Four dead in Ohio

On May 4, 1970 at 12:24 p.m. the United States National Guard opened fire on a group of students at Kent State University, southeast of Cleveland, Ohio, protesting the Vietnam war. 67 shots were fired in 13 seconds with 13 students shot. 4 died and 1 was paralyzed. This is one of the memorials to the slain students. In the background you can see 4 black pillars and a student carrying out a candle light vigil on the site where Sandy Scheuer was slain. Today was the 40th anniversary of the shooting. The site has finally been put on the National Register of Historical Places by the U.S. government.
