Big Day

It was a wonderful Mother's Day...

First it was breakfast in bed: Coconut, chocolate & blueberry pancakes, a few strips of bacon, fresh strawberries, and O.J. The kids also slipped in a special coupon book. A few vouchers read:

I will do the laundry
Free Hug
I will do the dish (es)
I will sell flowers
I will take out the garbage
I will feed my fish

And the best...

I will flush the toilet

Second was a day at The Willowdale Steeplechase -which is becoming a time honored Mother's Day tradition. This annual event draws over 10,000 fans from throughout the tri-state area, to enjoy the thrilling sport of steeplechase (horse) racing in a beautiful, family-friendly environment. We enjoyed the explosive power of the steeplechase horses, the majestic carriage parade, the spunky Jack Russell Terrier races (above), the antique car display, and the fun activities in the Kid's Alley Tent.

All though the weather was really windy and cold, the sun shone brilliantly and we enjoyed a long picnic watching one race after another. After the last race we raced to the car and drove an hour and a half to Hershey, PA where we visited a couple of Border Collies and decided to take them home with us. Yes, for mother's day we adopted two dogs that were not really meeting most of mom's requirements, but they were really sweet and the whole family decided that they wanted them. So, hopefully tomorrow you will meet Hines and Hannah.

Time for a nap now!
