more beach

had a nice run this morning, a mountain bike ride this afternoon and surfing this evening, topped off by a great tuna sandwich and fries at an amazing 40's throwback diner place. great day save for one thing: my bike didn't handle it's first off-road experience as well as I had hoped, somewhere on the first half of the trial (the climb), the rear gears started to lock up and would not rotate backwards when I stopped pedaling, causing the chain to get some serious slack. It was just begging to come off all together for most of the decent. I made it back in one piece despite that and the hot sun, and now the bike in for repair. hope it's an easy fix. the whole point in getting the used bike was to save money. we'll see tomorrow.
