Prepare to cast those clouts

"Ne'er cast a clout till [the] may be out" is the old country saying. May, in this context is the Mayflower or Hawthorn, which round these parts is coming into bloom, and a clout is a cloth or clothes. It is also the darling buds of May.

However it's a very cold night so I may just keep my clouts on for a bit longer!
