Gantin'

We hear that word a lot around this lot. Especially from the young chap in front and his neeburs. Not sure it's always used in the right context (don't click on this definition for example... ... I said don't!), but for the other students, especially those from further afield such as Hungary, picking up on these little Scottish nuances has been as much a part of their education as any organised lesson.

We've only a few weeks left with this group and I've been mightily impressed with the 'distance travelled' by some of them recently. They've had their moments I can assure you but as a group they've matured into a hard working bunch that might actually be coming around to see the benefit of furthering their education.

Case in point. Young 'J' here has had his jacket on a shoogly nail at times, but over the course of the year he's turned into someone who's game for anything that's thrown at him; even if that means a Friday afternoon slaving away on a sewing machine after a heavy morning session editing video. When I showed him this shot and asked if he wouldn't mind it appearing on here he was quite happy to agree - Cheers for that, owe you one. If it's any consolation, I had to knit a pair of mitts (started as gloves, was far too complicated though, so five fingers became a thumb and one thick finger) during my time at college and, truth be told, I quite enjoyed that too. I wouldn't even know where to start with a sewing machine though, someone would need to show me the basics, like where the mouse plugs in for example.

Apparently then, sewing's not gantin' at all.

After last weekend's liver abuse, this weekend's going to be alcohol free (most probably, maybe). Have a good one folks.
