Spirit of the Wild exhibit

I know other Edinburgh-based blippers have already included photos taken at this outdoor exhibit, but today was my first chance to pay it a visit.

This outdoor exhibit is made up of 60 giant wildlife photographs by photographer Steve Bloom. It formed part of the wonderful Edinburgh International Science Festival.

I was thrilled to see the exhibit, and the gardens in which it was housed, so busy. Only a few years ago, the gardens in this Edinburgh New Town square were one of many beautiful Edinburgh gardens closed to the public. But, after being closed for 238 years, it was transformed with pathways, trees, a reflecting pool, lighting and a pavilion coffee shop, and opened to the public in April 2008. On a lovely day like today, it's full of people relaxing and socialising ... and enjoying a unique photography exhibit!
