Figs

'There was an Old Person of Ischia,
Whose conduct grew friskier and friskier;
He danced hornpipes and jigs, and ate thousands of figs,
That lively Old Person of Ischia.'
Edward Lear

My two fig trees, which, in the four years since I planted them, have yet to produce more than three small green figs between them, are suddenly covered in tiny fruit. Now to encourage them to grow, and the birds and squirrels to leave them alone.
