An 'oddity' can be anything that strikes you as 'odd' or is in any way unusual.

Wonderful night after a very relaxed day. It was the normal Thursday of work/school. It was another BOGOF on the school run as friend Madeline came back with us tonight. Madeline and Charlotte have also known each other since they were 2 1/2 years old, but theirs is not a smooth friendship. Actually, this was the first time Madeline has ever been to our house in all that time, for good reason - she used to bully Charlotte. But this year, Charlotte has found her voice and backbone and apparently has put Madeline in her place (this was also noticed by her teacher and the school which was interesting).

After dropping Madeline home, we got ourselves ready for the talk at the library Shropshire Oddities by Dorothy Nicolle. Charlotte and I walked up to meet Vivi (hence this blip). I've seen Dorothy talk before when she was guest speaker at the Trefoil anniversary event (yes, somehow I am a member of the Trefoils, the only one with non-grey hair!). A very funny, enlightening talk that was made even better as Charlotte and Vivi also enjoyed it.

Interesting things.
Oswestry's name. King Oswald lost a battle and as custom, his body was chopped up and parts hung up in a tree. Oswald's Tree. Oswestry.

There is Scrooge's grave in Shrewsbury - a prop left over from the filming of the movie in 1984.

There are several interesting gravestones.

There is a replica of Stonehenge in Shropshire from a rich entrepreneur who wanted something spectacular to view in his garden.
