Bangkok normal

Things are back to normal in Bangkok -well, almost. Except for a nightime curfew and a heavier than usual police presence, it's slowly recovering from the shock, at least on the surface. Sitting at a red light in the back seat of a taxi was oddly comforting. And when I saw the sky train whoosh by today after several days of shutdown, my heart leapt.

We went to see the new 3D Shrek today with the kids. Shrek was bored with the drudgery of his life and entered into a magical contract to trade a day of his life for a day in a more exciting life. The wizard tricked him and picked the day Shrek was born as his payment so the day Shrek gained was in a world in which he had never lived. It was horrible, of course, and the movie ended with Shrek back in his old life with a new appreciation for the stuff that used to really bug him.

So on the way backfrom the movie theater, sitting in traffic at a red light, I didnt gripe about the traffic. I noticed the calm and the freedom of movement and the amazing sky - and I blipped it.
