Rob Roy's Footsteps

First day proper of a week of work for Mrs Tonto and me.

With the weather still pretty good, but nowhere near as hot as the weekend we flicked through our book of nice walks in Scotland and plumped for one near Callander.

The walk was entitled "The Romance of Rob Roy" and followed a well trodden path up through the woods over looking the town. Nothing too strenuous, but it was quite steep in places. As usual Breagha ran all the way up and most of the way down. The only time she wasn't running was when we had to put her on the lead in case she chased after the sheep and cows in the field we had to cross.

The view from he top near the cairn commemorating Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee in 1897 was spectacular. In one direction you could clearly see down the Forth valley as far as Edinburgh. And in the other the lochs and mountains of the Trossachs.

Such a beautiful part of the world.
