Billy Goat

St Kilda

A pretty bumpy night - quite a few less when dessert was served last night than went into dinner an hour earlier!
We were worried that today would be a no-go day again but the captian snook the ship in to the bay so we were sheltered from the south by the horns of the bay.
Wind speed over the deck in excess of 30 knots - gusts to 40+ but at Zodiac level it's OK provided you avoid the williwaws. They pick up the surface in a spiral with pretty solid water up to 30 ft high.
Quite amazing place - still occupied by a contingent of miserable people from Qinetiq who man a tracking station and a few happy people from the National Trust who look after the island in the summer.
Could think of lots of worse places to be....
