Nothing Gold Can Stay

I was working on the Language with Flowers project this morning and experienced a feeling of - and excuse me if I'm sounding a bit soft - life afirming pleasure as the participants proceeded to recite their favourite poems and songs from their childhood...

Here's mine...

Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leafs a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
-Robert Frost
