Soaring sculptures raise the spirit

I like when public spaces are graced by quality art installations, especially when you unexpectedly encounter them. Calgary International Airport has a few nice examples of this, especially the dinosaur sculptures of Brian Cooley with the humorous depiction of a dinosaur shredding luggage at one of the baggage carousels through to the soaring flying reptiles that grace the air just after the security search as captured in this blip. Having done all the belt off, laptop out, liquids out mularkey, its refeshing to look up and see these guys just hanging there large as life. IMHO works of this nature enrich the journey for the weary traveller and stand in stark contrast to the positively miserly BAA airports where travellers are seen as cash generating units to be processed through ill-designed drab soul-less halls and de-humanised at each and every opportunity. Anyway, enough of my ranting ... this is a backblip snapped last night before leaving YYC.
