Web of intrigue

Not far from our house a hedgerow is being attacked by spindle ermine moth caterpillars Yponomeuta cagnagellus. The web is spun to protect the caterpillars from predators while they devour the leaves. Having feasted on hawthorn for the first course they are now moving on to some holly.
