Longa

It may have been a dreich day again today, but there are some views which still look good no matter what the weather. It was a case of keeping the lens rain-free long enough to take a shot or two.

This is Big Sand, with Longa Island, near Gairloch. (Someone must have been up all night thinking up those names)....

I've never managed to go to this island, and the only inhabitants are some sheep. A couple of years ago, they burned the heather on the island, and it looked like some spectacular Viking long boat drifting out to sea.

For all you royalists out there, the Royal Yacht Britannia used to moor off Longa in the summer, and allow the family to have an undisturbed picnic away from prying, peasant eyes!
