Out for a walk...

Shooting with this new lens has definitely been a treat! At times it is a bit frustrating, but then again, that is why I bought a manual focus lens to learn on (hopefully not the first). At high apertures (especially wide open) the depth of field is razor thin on this 2x crop camera... in the above shot, half the foreground wasn't even in focus at 2.8 because I was off angle. And on the opposite end, infinity focus only seems to get crisp at very low apertures (f11 or f16). Still, after coming from P&S cameras, to the focus-by-wire rings on modern lenses, this old manual lens just seems so much more natural. I can't wait to get some portraits at some point...

SHOT NOTES: Pen 40mm/1.4. Shot at f2.8, converted to B&W and adjusted contrast.
