Sign Circle

A weekend away volunteering at Sign Circle festival near Preston, UK.

A place where all workshops an entertainment is accesible and interpreted for deaf people or performed by deaf people themselves.

Over the weekend I attended a workshop on international sign language, had an indian head massage and reiki, went trampolining, sumo wrestling, pony riding and volunteered in the information tent registering people into the festival and giving out wristbands and being on hand to answer any questions.

Sign Circle is a happy place. All the people there were so friendly and welcoming. The hearing people all have different levels of sign language ability and are sponges soaking it all up and learning loads of new signs. The deaf people are in the majority for once and there are no problems with communication or discrimination.

Small independant festivals is definitley where its at.
