Fire

For some complicated administrative reason we have our midsummer St Jean's day village meal and bonfire early in our village. It should be on 24 June and, of course, it's pagan festival which has been given a saint's name by the church. Never mind, it's still good fun. A delicious paella and lots of wine as the sun goes down and then the fire is lit. The tradition is to join hands and dance around it. Friends were telling us that when they were young they used to jump over the fire too, damping their clothes and hair and going through the flames.
