Dereliction of duty

Walked into town along the Harborne Walkway again today - inadvertently joining a Walkathon for part of it; lots of people hurrying along purposefully while we messed around identifying flowers and seeing what we could forage (in theory - there's far too much dog related debris along here to want to pick anything!) The walkway itself is bizarre, some of it quite nice, other bits involve going through dank and very dark tunnels, nearly always frequented by Tennants drinkers or men with large dogs; and then you have to cross Winson Green Road to get to the canal to follow that into the city centre.

The canal part of the walk also feels moody, with derelict graffitied warehouses along the whole route from where we join it, and not a sign of life in the buildings alongside. For a photographer there are some great subjects though.

Lovely walk in the sunshine - followed by a soaking in the rain and the bus home. Long time since we went to town without the car - nice for a change. Well, I thought so, at least.
