Photo a day for 2010

May Hill

Until 5pm today it was a lazy Sunday. I'd barely moved from the sofa, only to photograph impending grey skies as potential photos for the day. But the rain held off, the sun tried to come out, and it was ideal for a brisk walk. Well, it was ideal for a run, but I went for the brisk walk option.

This photo, taken from Crickley Hill on the outskirts of Cheltenham, is of Gloucester in the foreground (the cathedral is visible faintly on the right) towards May Hill in the distance on the county boundary with Herefordshire. The clump of trees on the summit, visible from miles around, was planted to mark the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria.
