Flowers for Lubie

It's been a difficult day.

We had to say goodbye this morning to our old cat Lubie.

We got Lubie and her daughter Scout shortly after Mr R and I were married and moved into our first home. That was 10 years ago. They were mother and daughter, only 6 months between them so both about 7 when we got them from the cat protection league.

They've been here as all of the children were born and learned quickly to stay clear of inquisitive toddlers and that you could trust them a bit more as they grew older and a bit more responsible.

Lubie was always the one who liked to be petted. I swear she always knew first when I was pregnant as she would plant herself in my lap and that would be her regular spot for the next 9 months...purring away.

Breaking the news to the children was difficult. The boys wanted to see her...our daughter did not. They said goodbye to her...the wee fella said night night. Mr R and I buried her after they were in bed...it was dusk and as we finished the rain started to fall.

Scout has been wandering about all day, meowing...wondering where her mother is...it's breaking my heart all this today.
