Waxeyes at war over food!

The waxeyes (also known as silver eyes, or white eyes) Zosterops lateralis, spend a lot of time trying to be dominant at the feeding station. On a warm day they will flutter, peck, stare down and generally try to throw their weight around, but when it's cold they fight a lot less and focus on eating. They are an endless source of entertainment!

First recorded in NZ in 1832 they appeared in greater numbers in 1856 and are thought to be self introduced from Australia.

Maori name is Tauhou which means little stranger.
