Who am I to disagree?

Watching Springwatch Photo Club (red button) this week there was a lass featured who as well as taking some cracking photos had used a combination of three identical shots, one normal, one underexposed and one overexposed to produced a very vividly coloured final shot.

I then came across a shot from Lisa's Life which seemed to be using similar techniques and she pointed me in the direction of Photomatix.

So time to play, found the Auto Exposure Bracketing function on my camera, remembered a suitable panorama from Welwyn Garden, so off we go.

Apart from the obvious vivid colouring I like the facility that with the three different shots the people and cars in the foreground had obviously moved, but the software was clever enough to fix their positions from the first shot and ignore them from shots two and three - clever that.

As to the finished shot - it's just a play to see what can be done. It certainly didn't have to be as vivid as that, but it's nice to take it to an extreme and see what's possible. It's also easier to go to an extreme rather than attempting some subtle effect, but having now achieved a basic understanding of the software the next task will of course be to investigate its subtleties. Not sure how much use I'll make of it, but it's fun to play.
