Piggyback on a Queen Bee

Oh the innocence
of a 41 year-old
on seeing this amazing coupling
for she did not think twice
about snapping away
not knowing what act was occurring.

I was having a wander through Saughton Winter Gardens and was drawn, once again, to observe the bumble-bees. Dozens of tiny orange-tails were busy feeding on this one plant and then into my vision came an enormous bumble-bee with another one on its back. I had NEVER seen this before and spent ages watching! The Queen Bee continued to feed, dragging herself from flower to flower, and at one point falling to the ground and having to climb back up. Her suitor was completely unphased (or perhaps was just rather preoccupied!) and hung on. Her wings were completely flattened underneath his grip!
