The landscape of the Shar mountains

The Shar Mountains is a mountain range in the Balkans that extends from southern Kosovo and the northwest of the Republic of Macedonia to northeastern Albania.
Shar mountains located on the southern rim of Kosovo. Its been a natural border with Macedonia. It extends in the direction of NE - SW to a length of about 80 km and width of 15-20 km. It is known for the largest suburbs in the Balkans. In the historical records mentioned in many places. Roman travel writers is called by various names, as Polybius uses the name Scardus Oros, Tut Livy is called Scordi Montis and Scordus and that name has been retained by the sixteenth century. The maps from the mid-XVI v. called the Monte Argentaro (or old name for Kopaonik) or Montegna dell 'Argento. Fortunately Other names: Scardus - Schardagh - Sardagi- Shardaga - Sara Relief Shar Mountains was moldy, so she (the Northern side) divided into parishes: Sirinic valey, Sredska valey, Opolje and Gora.
