Mini Cooper

On holiday this week, so enjoying a little R&R away from the coalface.

Today's blip is football related, so it fits with the current World Cup hoo-ha at the moment. Went for a walk this morning and happened upon this memorial statue.

I've seen it hundreds of times before and it always makes me smile.

Davie Cooper, for those who may not have heard of him, was a relatively famous Scottish footballer, and a good one at that. He was small and fast and he played on the wing.

Cooper was born in Hamilton (where this memorial is) and played for Clydebank, Rangers, Motherwell and for his country Scotland.
He sadly died of a brain haemorrhage before he reached the age of 40.

Before you ask, it's none of those facts that cause me to smile.
It's that the sculpture seems to be slightly out of proportion; almost as if it's a scale model of him.

I know he was a small, fast winger, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't that small.
