Reception

The day started with bride farewell. This is generally a very emotional moment for the bride's family as they let go their child for good. There are tears, blessings, good wishes all packed in those few moments. This is a defining day for the bride herself as she steps over her doorstep for one last time. She'll come back to visit in future but as a changed person, with a new identity. Though in today's world when kids leave home much sooner, chasing their dreams and careers, this ritual is not that relevant but still...it is a transition into a whole new world with new set of people and new family. Everything changes in a day for her. Our car was passing through those narrow streets, where she once used to cycle to school, sporting plaited ponytails...the trees, shops, streets, houses...they approached, said goodbye and disappeared behind her. She didn't even turn around for a final look. There were lot of such thoughts that were going on in my mind that time. Don't know what she was thinking - I didn't even try to find out. Had I written this blip on that day itself, it would've been much longer. Right now (about 15 days later), I am not able to recollect most of my thoughts.

The reception party was in the evening near our home. The picture in the blip is the complete extended family. On my right are my parents and brother and on Mrs Adda's left are her parents and sister. I guess everyone is tired of smiling and hence are looking so serious. We're otherwise a happy family :)
