VIVE LA FRANCE!

President Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni were in London today. They took part in the commemorations to celebrate the 70th anniversary of President de Gaulle's first radio address from London to Occupied France during World War II.

This blip was taken on The Mall early this morning. The weather was terrible, grey skies and a persistent mizzle (mist and drizzle).

I went on to look for the statue of de Gaulle that stands in Carlton Gardens, but I couldn't find it, and I had to get to work. From our office window, we saw President Sarkozy and Carla Bruni arrive at 10 Downing Street, where they were met by the Prime Minister and Samantha Cameron. I was itching to take a photo, but that is strictly verboten!
