That There Is Some Corner of a Foreign Field,

that is forever England.

And that corner tonight, was in our living room.

The agony that is to be a Scottish woman, married to an Englishman, with children, and adopted son who have declared their hearts belonging to England.

Play tonight was abysmal. There was no fight in England's Heart. There was no desire to win. From what I could hear, there were runs towards goal, and then they just stopped.

I took photo after photo as they all bounced to the edge of their seats, willing a finish to a run down the field, and then sat back and tried not to be affected by the deflation that occured.

That deflation happened time, and time and time again tonight, and to be honest, if England continue to play like that, they don't even deserve to reach the next round.

On Wednesday, we will be here again. St Georges Crosses at the Ready, Shirts worn proudly, and the enthusiasm will be back, and maybe our hearts will reach an English heaven.

(Thank You, Rupert Brooke)
