Chuckanut Radio Hour

It was a chilly June day, so we dressed warmly to go to the Chuckanut Radio Hour, Village Books' monthly radio variety show which was being recorded in the beer garden at Boundary Bay Brewery.

Each show features music, the poetry corner, author interviews, and an episode of "The Bellingham Bean." Guest authors have included Sherman Alexie, Garrison Keillor, JA Jance, and Garth Stein.

Chuck and Dee Robinson, the owners of Village Books, are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the opening of their store this week. Chuck has just published a book about their experiences, titled "It Takes a Village Books: 30 Years of Building Community, One Book at a Time". It was therefore only fitting to have Chuck as the guest author. He's the guy in the black shirt, trying to hide behind the mike.

It was the best CRH show we've been to. To top it off, Boundary Bay had a special cask IPA on tap. It was outstanding! They've also brewed a special Village Books Anniversary Scotch Ale. We'll try that on Saturday.
