Bird-brain

OK, I'm prepared to accept that there must exist birds which are fantastically intelligent. Sadly, the one you see here, however, doesn't even fall into the same category as Alfred Einstein, let alone, Albert. For days now (and this is forgetting last year's attempt), he/she/it has been attempting to build a nest in the daftest of places...above the patio, next to the light. It wouldn't matter so much if everything were neat and tidy, but the mess was phenomenal...it appeared that a row of houses was the goal (40 cm long, a sort of mattress...what is this? The foundations??!), but the mess on our breakfast table was too much and so the plan was shifted. To where? Into the guesthouse, of course! Dimwit the bird has been attempting to build a nest in no fewer (and there may be more) than 4 places in the little house, apparently not noticing that when it's locked, there's no "bird-door" to provide access. Now, everytime I go into the little house, the bird rushes in to see if it can sneakily stay behind after closing hours!! God alone knows what my mother'll find when she comes to visit!
