Mourning Dove Eggs

News Flash and revised Blip!

The mouring dove finally left her nest and I got out the ladder and photographed her eggs. This is why she has been patiently sitting on the nest.

Given the time the nest has been occupied and our two week absence, I think that this is the second brood. Maybe these will hatch soon.

I expect to soon hear a lot of coo-ing as the eggs develope because it is said that the mother sings to the eggs and that even in the egg, the babies identify with the mother's voice. The bird book says incubation is 11 days or so and we have been back about 10 days.

Stay tuned!
