Playing with light

Photography is largely the art of playing with light. Having a spare moment and a nice sunny day, I went out testing some cross-lighting techniques I've been saving for an otherwise dull Sunday afternoon. Now, I won't put up any of the many pictures of my hand I took for testing purposes, but instead I decided to take some setup shots, and thought that my lightstand looked kind of out of place by the sunny beach.

Update: Added some curves and selective color adjustments, because looking back at it, the sky was a bit dull.
