Breakey Blips

A Winter's morning in the valley

I love this layer of mist that adorns the other side of the valley at this time of year.

It was cold this morning, about 3C, and the kids and I walked to school. It was fun rugging up for the 20min dash. The dog enjoyed it too, and then she enjoyed returning to bury under the blankets in her bed afterwards - what a woose!

The brown blobs on our tin roof are gum nuts, or honky nuts, that the kids have recently taken to throwing up there. Little darlings! Not!

For your info, the big tree on the left is a New Holland apple tree (doesn't produce any fruit) and on the right is the magnificient and dangerous lemon scented gum. The bark drops in early Summer revealing a delicate pink fresh bark underneath, and the air is filled with a citrus perfume. The danger is associated with its reputation for randomly and suddenly casting branches.
