Rainbow Falls

This was the first day of a trip I had been planning with five other women since January. We drove to Reds Meadow Pack Station (west of Mammoth resort area on the east side of the Sierras) in two separate cars. My car left at 7:00 . We drove over Tioga Pass on Highway 120, had lunch at Tenaya Lake in Yosemite, and arrived about 2:00 at Reds Meadow. The other car left and arrived later. The three of us chose the best of the two very rustic cabins allotted to our group, moved our belongings in, and headed out on a short hike to Rainbow Falls, which was beautiful.

We arrived at Reds Meadow two days before a scheduled departure for a six-day hike to be supported by mules, packers on horses, and a cook. We were to carry only a day pack on the trip. Our tents, sleeping bags, etc., were to be carried by mules. We arrived a couple of days early to get used to the 7750' (2370 m) altitude before setting out.

(Backblipped on 30 June)
