Ready for action

What a day! I'm wrecked!! Wet, grey, windy so work had to be confined to the polytunnel where much has been achieved! All peas and beans gathered in, beetroot picked, tomatoes staked, new lettuce and spinach sown. 3 helpers mean things get done very fast and efficiently. We have a good supply of communal wellies which are coming in very handy!
This was followed by a frenzy of cooking. We are eating very well and being creative with a surfeit of blackcurrants, beetroot and broadbeans! Tonight Sara made crepes and Scott made beetroot and broadbean salad, and Carina made blackcurrant ice cream with extra blackcurrant sauce :)
I had to rush off to Bantry Literary Festival to attend an evening with Margaret Drabble, having unexpectedly been given some tickets. She read from her latest book Jigsaw, and then answered questions from the floor. She was very eloquent and witty, and very unpretentious. I read many of her books in the '70s and 80s but am now fired up for a re-read.
