Pima

The bar at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool, where I was chairing a conference session today, is called Pima. I'd never heard this word before but learned from the bar menu that it comes from Pima cotton (Gossypium barbadense), the South American cotton plant. The hotel is close to the Albert Dock and the name reflects the historical importance of the cotton trade to Liverpool. It's a calm, cool space and the lights change colours continuously. Might be tempted back in for a club sandwich one Saturday.
