what are we looking for?

We decided to go to the oldest child's sport's day today.

The three year old and I arrived at the field to be met by hundreds of secondary school kids ALL in black PE kit.

So for a long time we stood and looked and looked and looked at the range of sameness.

"What are we looking for?" she kept asking.

My individual, unique, special, one off child, I wanted to say but all I saw was my daughter hidden in uniform - one of many.

"We will find her." she said. "She will see me."

She was right - a small colourful beacon she was!
