Frosterley Marble

I was on a Staff Training day today, at Harehope Quarry in County Durham. I could happily go on training like this every day!!

We were concentrating on River Studies and also Sustainable energy. Smashing course, very informative, well delivered. And the lunch was fantastic too!! And the sun shone all day. What more could you ask for.

The photo is of a large piece of unpolished Frosterley marble, full of fossils of sea creatures who lived in this area, now the northern Pennines, many eons ago. The marble was used in Durham Cathedral, and can be seen there in all it's glory.
