The Town

Driving home from shopping this morning, I stopped to take this picture across the "Landstuhler Bruch", a about 7 km wide and 30 km long countryside where I live.

Around 1800 this part of my home was almost inaccessable (a fen). At the end of the 18th century peat was cut here.
Today it is a conservation area for birds and plants. It is perfect for walks and bicyle rides for lazy people like me - no hills.

Yesterday I saw two storks in the meadows. We are all eager for more of them to settle here again. I love storks. Every now and then I can see one on the church steeple right next to my home.
