Worth driving six hours for

Mr EF's birthday weekend so we went off down south to visit a restaurant we had heard much about (Sat Bains) and had a delicious 10-course meal which I will write more about. I can hear you drawing your breath in at the thought of so many courses. It was a tasting menu and the dishes were beautifully judged in size and flavour.

This was probably our favourite course, duck parfait with beetroot jelly, beetroot ketchup and gingerbread.

On the way home we had coffee with my mum-in-law and lunch with my daughter and son-in-law, so a perfect weekend.
