When someone gets completely the wrong end of a stick or completely misses a point or takes something entirely the wrong way... disabuse them of their incorrect notion or allow them to continue as they're obviously enjoying themselves so much reacting to their newfound misinformation? Leave it be for the sake of a quiet life or interject to assuage the conscience?
