St.Patrick's Roman Catholic Cathedral Armagh

We did a wee road trip today over to County Armagh, today. We had never been over in this part of the country before.

Headed for Lough Neagh first. It was a wee bit windy and wet when we arrived but that didn't stop the Reids getting out and braving the weather in our shorts! A couple of showers while we ate our picnic in the car. Then the boys went and played with some of the local kids at the park.

After Lough Neagh we headed for Armagh City. The rough guide suggested you head for St.Patricks Cathedral as you get a good view of the city...think they may have visited in the winter as the trees and foliage blocked our view or we were at the wrong St.Patrick's Cathedral as the Church of Ireland cathedral in the city is also St.Patrick's. Fantastic building though.

After Armagh City we headed out to Navan Fort. This was the High Seat of the Kings of Ulster. Visited Tara in County Meath a couple of years back. Kids enjoyed rolling down the banks of the hill fort.

Stopped off in Newry on our way home for pizza...which was apparently the best pizza in the world according to the Rooster:-)

When we arrived back in Dundrum the sky was threatening rain but we decided to chance a wee wander down to Murlough Beach...glad we did the rain didn't come and we spent a good hour building sandcastles...headed home just before 10, tired and happy.
