Silver in the semi-shade

Eryngium giganteum is a favourite among the bumble-bees in our garden. We also quite like it, to say the least.

It is sometimes called Miss Willmott's Ghost, after the nineteenth century gardener, Ellen Wilmott, who liked to secretly scatter these seeds in other people's gardens.
