The Jane, North of Fetlar

I was pretty sure nothing was going to come close to the dive we had on the E49 yesterday. But after spending the night in Cullivoe, on Yell, we headed down to Fetlar and dived the wreck of the Jane.

The Jane was a steam cargo ship carrying herring, and herring workers, from Baltasound to Lerwick. She ran aground on Linga but floated off with the tide, she sustained heavy damage and sank in 20m of water, north of Fetlar on 19th July, 1923.

The wreck is inverted with the keel uppermost, the bow and stern are intact and make an impressive dive. This is the inverted bow.
