Castlewellan

After our marathon journey yesterday we stayed closer to home today for the last day of our vacation.

We visited with my brother-in-laws family in the morning. It was nice to see everybody again.

There was a heavy shower when we were visiting, however, we decided to take a chance and go through with our planned walk round Castlewellan Lake. County Down has some fantastic country parks with lovely walks.

It's a couple of years since we did the Castlewellan Lake walk, it's just over 3km but it does seem to take us an age to get round it by the time the kids deviate off the path, stop to look at bugs, through stones into the lake, get dis-intrested and have to be cajoled on...It's the first time the wee fella has walked it having been in the sling two years ago when we first did it...or was it the buggy? Anyway he required a little more persuasion than his older siblings and a little help from Dad but he made it.

After we had a wee snack in the car we attempted the maze...with a little help from some of the locals we completed it quite quickly. Which was just as well as the kids were pretty tired after our walk round the lake.

After our walking we headed for dinner at The Hop, the diner in Newcastle. It's become one of our holiday traditions, dinner at The Hop on the Friday evening of our stay.

It was then home to pack and for us and for the kids bed and the new Princess and the Frog dvd which we had bought for them as a surprise.
