Around the Block

Red Jar

I hope you like the shot in its own right; for those interested in historical detail the blue drape in the background hangs over Dali's bed in his house in Port Lligat, near Cadaques in Catalunya, Spain. We enjoyed our visit to the series of fishermens' houses that Dali acquired over the years, knocking them into one to form his permanent abode from 1930 to 1982. Nearly all his major works were painted here; the light you see comes from a window only a few feet from his studio window which has the same aspect. Everything you see is as he left it.

There is not a corner of the house that is not imbued with his fun and quirky touch and, at the same time, an easily identifiable Catalan influence. Worth a visit, but the guides need to buck up their act, badly!!
