Spined Turban Galls

My morning walk found me in the Shell Ridge Open Space in Walnut Creek looking for galls. There still aren't many, but I did find about five different kinds on several different trees. If you're interested, you can see them here. If you look really closely you can see two on one leaf here.

I discovered that some of the problems I've been having with my computer were due to my card reader, which is now headed for the scrap bin. Today it overheated, caused my computer to freeze up, and wouldn't allow me to upload a single photo. A new computer is in the works, but I dread the work that entails.
