THE VIKINGS HAVE LANDED

Went on the annual outing to our national museum in Dublin today. The main exhibit is this exact replicia of a sunken vessel back in Denmark. The longboat sailed to Ireland earlier this year with a crew of one hundred and twenty Vikings. It was lifted out of the river Liffey and place in the main courtyard of the museum. It will be sailed back to Denmark next year. The size of this ship is the first thing you notice.. it is huge, you can understand the fear the locals must have felt when they saw this sailing up the river in ninth century.
