Oops....BIG Oops

A few years ago the wise leaders of the Town of Tempe decided to capitalize on the Salt River that runs through downtown (you must understand that desert rivers only ?run? for portions of the year), so they put rubber dams at each end of downtown and filled in the Tempe Town Lake (or as my daughter calls it, Tempe?s Giant Evaporation Pond - the only way we get through our summers of 112 degrees is because it really is a dry heat!! We really don?t need any added moisture!) and people sailed and paddle-boated....and, well, a few people did. Anyway, who knows what happens to rubber when you leave it outside in 110 degrees?? Anyone?? Anyone?? Yes! EVERYONE (but the wise town leaders) knows that it cracks, it breaks down, it disintegrates! So no one (but the wise town leaders) was surprised when the dam broke yesterday.

will we ever learn to just leave things as they are??
